The 1995-1996 Sheehan High School hockey team had a disappointing record, but a productive season. Many of the younger players got ice time they would not have seen if the team was more competitive. The second time the team played New Haven/Shelton was the best game of the season. The team lost by only one goal and played their hardest until the end. The team was led by Dave Nielsen's solid play on defense, as well as Mike McCabe, Matt Cassello, Bill Florczyk and Gary Wasilewski who provided the offensive punch. Gary Wasilewski and Ed Barth are two freshman who will become starters as they grow older. Scott Hanson and Jared Golitko also played significant roles in various positions. Next year the team will still be inexperienced, but if Sam Shaw steps up at goalie, and Gary Wasilewski and Ed Barth play to their potential the team can improve. Scott Hanson will also help the team with his constant effort.
